5 of the Best Street Cars to Start Modding

Modifying a car is something that a lot of people love to do. The art of turning a pretty average car into something that turns heads is extremely popular (and it’s not hard to see why). Plus, its a great way to fall deeper in love with your set of wheels.

With that said, if you’re a car enthusiast you’ve probably thought about modifying a car for the track or drag strip before. But if you’re like a lot of people, you might not know where to start. There’s tons of good options out there to modifying, but we’ve narrowed it down to out 5 favorite.

Ford Mustang GT

5. Ford Mustang GT

The Ford Mustang has been an American icon pony car since its debut in 1964. People from all over the world have spent their money on this fun, rear-wheel drive car. Some opt for the V6, but the V8 that comes in the GT package is what we’d opt for.

Starting in 2011 Ford introduced the Coyote engine into the Mustang and brought it up to 420 horsepower (2017 has 435). If you want to mod for high power with a supercharger or turbocharger then we recommend 2011 or newer. If you’re not as concerned with high power and want cheaper parts than the 2000-2004 Mustang is a good place to look.

The Shelby Mustang’s are pre-modded Mustangs if you’d like to skip the work and have some more cash. The new GT350’s make around 520 horsepower, and the older GT500’s make around 640 horsepower. Both are impressive beasts and come modded for you.
